Bug Description

when trying to enque a .m3u playlist that points to files not located within the directory of the .m3u playlist itself, nothing is enqued into the music player. For example:

the .m3u playlist is located in the directory...
/album/playlist.m3u

and the music files are located in directories...
/album/CD 1/song1.mp3 and /album/CD 2/song2.mp3 respectively

I absolutely love decible music player and if a fix for this can be found it would really perfect my ubuntu experience, thanks for everything.

That works fine for me.

Can you check that the playlist actually contains the full path to the files or, if it contains relative paths, that these paths are valid from the location of the playlist?

Thank you for the speedy response! Hopefully since it works for you there is hope for me in my situation. I used Winamp to create all my playlists and they seem to be pointing to the correct path relative to the .m3u playlist. For example

the playlist is in /album/playlist.m3u

and the .m3u file looks like:

#EXTM3U

#EXTINF:XXX,Artist Name - Song TitleXX

CD 1\XX - Artist Name - Song TitleXX.mp3

etc, where X is a number and the songs are contained in /album/CD 1/

there are two things I notice:

1) it uses a "\" instead of a "/". Can Decibel handle a .m3u written this way? And if not what can I realistically do about it? I dual boot with windoze and have a big music collection so if I ever save a playlist in Winamp again I'd like to avoid any confusion. Could I tweak the code to treat a "\" or "/" the same for a .m3u?

2) after a while in the .m3u, it will stop using the lines "#EXTINF:123,Artist Name - Song TitleXX" and proceed with just the lines "CD 1\XX - Artist Name - Song TitleXX.mp3". Is this okay/typical?

Thanks again.

Linked to Question #93528 which was marked as "solved" though no solution was provided. The problem was identified though, assuming jenningsthecat was correct in their indentification.
