Confirmed also fails in a VM as well as when using a net-install from a USB drive.

This is just version skew between the kernel and linux-backports-modules and in development is common due to the required upload order of the kernel packages. The kernel must hit the archive before we can build the LBM packages as they require the headers packages from the linux. However until LBM is then uploaded built linux-meta will trigger this error. When this is seen you should find you are recommended to not apply the updates by apt. Once LBM (now uploaded) hits the archive the upgrade should apply correctly.

affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) → linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 (Ubuntu)
Changed in linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 (Ubuntu):
assignee: nobody → Andy Whitcroft (apw)
status: New → In Progress
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: In Progress → Fix Released

Confirmed fixed when using net-install to download. Now I'm running in to other bugs... Thank you for the quick resolution.

It seems like this is something an automated test should catch and hold production of the daily images over.

This bug is not fixed. I still get the dependency error.
