Bug Description

I'm running breezy with the official breezy-backports repository.

Yesterday a backport appeared for clamav-freshclam which updated the /etc/init.d/clamav-freshclam script.

Now whenever it runs, I see error messages, like this:

$ sudo /etc/init.d/clamav-freshclam restart
/etc/init.d/clamav-freshclam: line 163: log_daemon_msg: command not found
   ...done.
/etc/init.d/clamav-freshclam: line 151: log_daemon_msg: command not found
   ...done.

I don't know if "log_daemon_msg" is a new function for dapper, but clamav-freshclam clearly depends upon it. If there's an updated package which provides this log_daemon_msg function, it should be backported before packages which depend upon it.

Out of interest, is anyone looking at this? It gets kind of annoying in the cron output after a while... :)

I'm using the version of clamav listed below

clamav 0.87.1-1~breezy1
clamav-base 0.87.1-1~breezy1
clamav-daemon 0.87.1-1~breezy1
clamav-data 20050702.224900.964
clamav-freshclam 0.87.1-1~breezy1
libclamav1 0.87.1-1~breezy1

I'm getting the same 'log_daemon_msg:command not found' error when executing sudo /etc/init.d/clamav-freshclam or any of the other variants of that command relating to clamav. I have read that this was fixed in Debian unstable or testing, but it appears that a bad copy of clamav has been included with Ubuntu, or so the scuttlebut goes. :)

This fails because the lsb-base package is too old on breezy. Any ideas how we could resolve this issue? (Backporting lsb-base is the easiest thing to do)

I just installed the lsb-base package from Debian Testing on top of my Ubuntu install. That worked quite well. It should be easy to put this in backports, but I don't have the knowledge less hte authority to do that.

This error still exists as of May 12, 2006. Any idea when this will be fixed?
