[Realtek ALC268] ALSA test tone not correctly played back

Bug Description

I just updated my system and after reboot no sound running alsamixer from terminal gives
ALSA lib conf.c:3272:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
ALSA lib control.c:902:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default
cannot open mixer: No such file or directory

Same issue here, using completely different audio hardware. This happened after this morning's PA upgrade push in Lucid,

Same problem here. I was just messing around with ardour / jackd and i was not getting any sound. Afterwards realizing that neither output through pulse was possible.

Emu10k1 hardware.
