Bug Description
Binary package hint: usb-creator
usb- creator killed my mp3 player like i said, i tried this in 9.04 AND 9.10.
ok, i tried doing this every way, there was more than enough space so i tried installing it through that root, and it failed.(not sure what the msg was,but im NOT doing this again)
Then i tried allowing it to format the drive, and it failed, with a unable to format msg or whatnot, and afterwards no system would recognize my mp3 player, no matter what. no system would format it.(windows even said, it was 'write-
so i almost lost a 'not-cheap' piece of hardware yesterday because of ubuntu, -thank you-.
how to solve this:
i tried lots of applications(
no linux tool was able to achieve this, i tried many.(testdisk, ddrescue, you name it) gparted doesnt even recognize the drive as a 1gb one... how absurd is that?
anyways, problem reported. i consider this urgent, since an unexperienced user might have its hardware borked, and then go around saying: -oh ubuntu kills flash drives, linux is dangerous, dont use it!
And yes... windows did save the day. sad, sad, sad.
best of luck to all,
cheers
