Bug Description

Binary package hint: apt

That message always appear untranslated in Synaptic, update-manager and IIRC on software-center.

It seems to come from the 'apt-all' template, where it is translated in my locale (ca) but according to bug 446277, it seems that the 'apt-all' domain it's not being used by apt.

Actually, it seems that it was just a confusion on my part.

The actual string seems to be in the libapt-pkg as well (https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/apt/+pots/libapt-pkg/ca/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=Running+dpkg), which in the Catalan case was not translated.

I've just translated it and will test whether the translation is loaded, but I think it should be ok.

This makes me think again that we should disable the apt-all template and have only one place where apt translations are done.

I've seen the same behaviour of dpkg in a German language environment. If you have a fix for this let me know.

I have checked this and is translated correctly under Ubuntu Lucid, please could somebody check if this is displayed ok using Catalan language? Thanks.

This seems to be a duplicate of another bug which was filed by... cough... myself ... cough.

The issue seems to have been fixed in Maverick.
