Bug Description
I'm using an nvidia Ge6800 graphic card (Notebook amilo 3438G) in Ubuntu Dapper 6.06.
The card is detected but I can't use the 1400x900 mode (in /etc/X11/xorg.conf) with the basic driver of Ubuntu (1024x768 is used instead).
In order to make it work, I installed the nvidia proprietary driver.

This sounds like a dupe of 49827, although I'm not sure why it would start to work by changing the driver...
