Bug Description

when i enable "Satellite hint" plugin, (after i restart stellarium) i don't see anything any hint at all. For example, at sun set towards the east i should be able to see some satellite hint. Even at high time speed, i shoulmd be able to see some of them speeding tough the screen but one of them here. (i was able to compare this behavior with a windows version that works for this)

There is no graphic (the satelite graphic) and no text. no name of the satelitte.

i use archlinux with nvidia 190.53-4 , qt 4.6.1-1.

may be it's related to the bug #518809

Can you find satellites using the search dialog? Try searching for the international space station using the search string "ISS" (without quotes).

Things I want to verify:

1. That the plugin is present and set to load at startup

2. That there are no error messages in the log file relating to the satellites plugin

3. That there are satellites in the satallites list (press control-shift-z to show this, and then select the satellites tab)

4. That you can search for a loaded satellite and track it (i.e. I want to know if the object exists and is simply not visible, or is not created somehow)

Thanks

When I search for the ISS, and hit enter, the screen goes black and I got what you see in the screenshot. Obviously, there is a problem with all this NaN value here and there.

if I try to move stellarium screen i get always black after such a search. Ctrl-Shift Z gives in satellites tab a list of all visible satellites. I can see the TLE of IIS at the bottom of the window. (i can't take a screenshot of this dialog)

It looks from the log that there is a problem setting the initial simulation time. What is the time in Stellarium?

Try pressing the "8" key to set the simulation time to the current system time, and see if it makes a difference.

If this is the problem, I think you have a corrupted startup time set in your config.ini file. Please post your config.ini file to this thread.

the time in stellarium is the time on my system. no problem there. also 8 does nothing because time is already correct. I see no corruption in config.ini.

what you see in the log
Object::connect: No such slot StelNavigator::setPresetSkyTime(double)
is caused by Text User Interface module (I don't know what it can do so I enabled it just to see)
that tries to use a non-existent SLOT.

may be, this is another bug.

amazing and incredible !
markus provided a quite simple fix to the bug #518809 i had. use LANG=C

and this fixes also the problem with the satelite hints. it is working NOW. i can see the graphic of the satelite and its name. i can follow a satelite. look for it and it does NOT cause the black-out previously reported.

good luck to find where this is coming ! just elt us know what it is if you fix it. i am really curious to know what could aucse such problem.
