Bug Description

I have been running Xubuntu Lucid one one machine and a command-line Lucid install with lxde and openbox on another machine, and I'm having the same problem with pcmanfm and thunar on both machines.

If these file managers are set to double click to open (the default), then I can open one directory level only e.g. home directory to Documents. If I try to open Documents/some-other-dir, it doesn't work. I can't even select the directory. The only way to get into a subdirectory is by opening thunar or pcmanfm from a terminal.

If I set these file managers to open with a single click, then I can go into subdirectories with no difficulty.

Oddly enough, the problem doesn't seem to apply to Nautilus and ROX-filer. ROX-filer's default is single click, but setting it to double click doesn't cause the problem to appear.

It's appearing only on Lucid. The kernel version is 2.6.32-13-generic. One machine is a Toshiba Satellite A10 and the other is an Asus EeePC 900.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Are you using detailed-view mode in Thunar? If so, is this a duplicate of bug 520118 ?

Yes, I'm using detailed-view mode when this happens. I think we can regard this as a duplicate of bug 520118.

Pcmanfm is exhibiting the same behaviour, ie. only shows the problem when in detailed view mode and not in other modes. This might lend weight to the idea that the problem is at a lower level.
