Bug Description

When installing Sun Java 6 with the Software Center, it didn't show the window where you agree to the license, and thus wouldn't install. This removed all items that were supposed to be installed after anmd, opened a very dramatic window telling me I had a dependency error, and sent me to synaptic to install Java from there, where it was shown as a broken package.

This would be very annoying for the average user.

try 'dpkg-reconfigure debconf' to select a frontend other than noninteractive

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/sun-java6-jre_6-15-1_all.deb (--unpack):

This is likely a dup.

Are you able to reproduce it and provide a recipe to do so ? Thanks.

This should be fixed by the better debconf proxying which is now shipped in Lucid.

Under lucid, Software Center doesn't even report an error, just sits there waiting for "/usr/bin/perl -w /usr/share/debconf/frontend /var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/preinst install" to complete. I had to kill it manually after waiting two hours.

Correction (re #7). It apparently is working correctly now. Another application had popped up a window that completely hid the "Do you accept license?" pane.
