jocaml also needs an update (3.11.1-3 -> 3.11.2.a-1)

We're past the Feature Freeze, so the new upstream version of jocaml will need a freeze exception.

Then, I hereby request a freeze exception for jocaml.

This new upstream version is merely a port to the new version of ocaml. The current version doesn't work with OCaml 3.11.2. It has been built successfully on all architectures on Debian (sid) [1].

This is taking much more time than I was expecting. I know Ubuntu people are busy with preparing the next release, but there are currently 102 packages related to this transition that are not installable, so I guess having this transition completed should also have some priority. I already volunteered to give instructions to perform this transition smoothly... I don't know what more I can do, not being an Ubuntu developer.

FYI, the progress of this transition can be seen on:

This is really a minor version release and shouldn't require FeatureFreezeException. Ping someone on ubuntu-release team or someone from #ubuntu-dev. We need this transition to finish before next alpha.

As just written on irc, I agree that jocaml doesn't need a FFe (as I'd also like to see the ocaml transtion getting done asap).

I would caution here to distinguish between "doesn't need a FFe" and "has been granted an FFe". I can't tell from reading this bug log whether you mean that the jocaml update doesn't include anything that's affected by FF, or that all ocaml-related packages have a blanket exception. I don't think we want to do the latter without knowing what kind of changes are included, or defining some limits on what's ok.

Sorry for not being clear enough. The jocaml update is to my judgement not affected by FF, as I've been told that the only changes are to port it to new ocaml, so I'd count that as bug fix only changes.

I didn't mean to imply a blanket exception at all.
