Bug Description
Binary package hint: evince
Converting this simple PostScript program to PDF causes CUPS to hang up
when an attempt is made to print the PDF fron Evince.
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%BeginProlog
/H {/Helvetica findfont exch scalefont setfont} def
% --- usage: (string) pointsize rotation x y RA
/RA{gsave translate rotate H 0 0 moveto show grestore newpath} def
% ------------------
%%EndProlog
(String) 10 40 150 750 RA
showpage
%%EOF
Procedure:
- View PostScript file with Evince: no problems found
- Call Printout facility, then printout: CUPS prints out the PostScript file without error.
- convert the PS file to PDF: ps2pdf -dPDFSETTINGS=
- View <filename.pdf> with Evince ; The word String is visible, tilted at 40 degrees
- Call Print facility then Print Preview; -- nothing found on the monitor
- Call Print facility, then printout; CUPS hangs up
NotaBene: Setting the rotation to 0 degrees in place of 40 DOES allow the PDF document
to be printed out. But then the text is horizontal and not tilted at 40 degrees.
System info: Linux Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy", Evince 2.20.0,
Can anybody tell me what is wrong and if there is a bug fix?
Thanks in advance,
Mike Perry

UnreportableReason: This is not a genuine Ubuntu package
Unable to reproduce on Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" alpha 2, with evince 2.29.5-0ubuntu1.
I followed your steps but the PDF file with tilted text was displayed in Print Preview and printed out fine.
Marking as fix released. You may wish to see if the problem occurs using the 9.10 "Karmic Koala" Live CD, but if you do this make sure to use Synaptic to update evince after boot-up.
