Bug Description

Binary package hint: base-files

The default motd scripts on Ubuntu Server 9.10 in /etc/update-motd.d/ can potentially cause a login to hang from both the console and via SSH if a stale NFS mount exists on the system. This is the same issue you'd see if you ran an 'ls' in a directory with a stale NFS mount.

The culprit script is /etc/update-motd.d/50-landscape-sysinfo (symlink).

My local solution was to unlink this script.

resetting the package to lanscape-common. Setting Importance to Medium right now, but this has a good potential to be a serious issue.

affects: base-files (Ubuntu) → landscape-client (Ubuntu)
Changed in landscape-client (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Medium
