Bug Description

Using "make install" on Ubuntu with local discs, on Ubuntu using NFS mounts, and on Mac OS X using NFS mounts appears to work fine. However trying "make install" on a Mac OS X machine on a filestore accessed via Samba on the server leads to:

running install
/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/setuptools/command/easy_install.py:173: UserWarning: Unbuilt egg for dulwich [unknown version] (/Volumes/home/Checkouts/Bazaar/Dulwich)
  self.local_index = Environment(self.shadow_path+sys.path)
running bdist_egg
running egg_info
writing dulwich.egg-info/PKG-INFO
error: dulwich.egg-info/PKG-INFO: Permission denied
make: *** [install] Error 1
