Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

The "Main Menu" supposedly lets me "change which applications are shown on the main menu" (I'd say "in the main menu") while the "Menu Editor" is "an implementation of the freedesktop menu specification for Gnome". Seems backwards.

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.

I agree completely. It is very confusing to look up 'Menu Editor', and have it explain that this "package contains an implementation of the draft "Desktop Menu Specification" from freedesktop.org".

I did not want a new menu, I just want to change the old one. For that, I need to add the package "Main Menu"?

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

Hi. Thanks for your bug report. This is not actually an issue in software-center itself as software-center just displays the descriptions provided by the packages themselves. I will open new bug tasks for the 'alacarte' and 'gnome-menus' packages. Please continue to report any bugs you find in software-center. Thanks.

Thanks a lot for reporting this. Is it still an issue in 12.10 and if so, can you please provide a screenshot?
