duplicate entries in collection from albumartist tag

When the albumartist tag is present, multiple duplicate entries appear in the collection pane. The multiples appear to be determined by the artist tag. (I.e. if there are 5 unique artists starting with the letter "A", then "Various Artists" will appear 5 times under the letter A.) Moreover, each of these entries will include all tracks which have the same albumartist tag. The same effect is seen at whatever level "artist" appears in the collection pane.

I presume the intention is to merge individual artists from multi-artist compilations into the collection pane, however the current behavior incorporates the albumartist tag value instead. A screenshot is attached.

(Only files tagged recently with Musicbrainz Picard are affected, since the older version used the "musicbrainz_albumartist" tag.)

In a possibly related issue, the cover manager now displays each track artist as a separate album. (IOW, I haven't figured out if the extra covers are is a symptom of this bug or another bug to be reported separately...)

I am also getting duplicate entries for the same reason in my collection pane with the later version 0.3.2.0 under x64 karmic.
