Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 2 (all packages upgraded to latest version) with a nVidia GT220.
It all works, but it has a really annoying problem.
I can login and do everything, but when I press the ENTER key, the system totally hangs. No matter which window has the focus, the system will hang and I do nothing, also can't go to a terminal by CTRL+ALT+Fn.
However, it is still reachable by SSH (i did the bug report from there when it was just crashed) and if I type "sudo restart gdm" gdm restarts and ENTER works as it should.

Forgot to say:
- Same thing happens with i386 version
- I didn't have this problem before the latest Xorg upgrades
- I was trying to use vesa, but it does the same also with the Nvidia driver

And again:
- I have a netbook (eeePC 1000HD) with an Intel graphic card and the same software installed, and this problem doesn't happen.

Alessandro, try removing the package plymouth.
Do not, however, remove the library: libplymouth2.
Basically this kind of problems were described in the bug 516412
