Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I have Ubuntu One running on three machines. For a time it has behaved properly. Now it is acting up on all three machines. I can drop files in the Ubuntu One folder with the applet connected and files are not synchronized. I get to my new location and find that I don't have my files available. The problem keeps happening repeatedly.

I have all machines set to current Karmic versions. There should be no reason for this. Its also sad that I have a dropbox client running on the laptop and it hasn't failed me yet. I'm puzzled by this and a little troubled. I don't want to use dropbox, yet Ubuntu One is undependable. I could understand a problem on one machine, but three and they are all different.

I find that stopping and starting the sync daemon is very problematic, because if it ever stops working it seems you have to pull a Microsoft and reboot to get it to solidly work again. I've used Ubuntu since the beginning and have never had this type of issue.

Please offer some guidance, better debugging tools, and a better way to determine the state of the tool. It has to work otherwise it will become a problem.

Sam,
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu One better. Sorry you are having trouble with Ubuntu One. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 458393, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find.

From the Terminal you can use:
u1sdtool --current-transfers
to see the current transfers taking place.

There have been a lot of requests like yours for more tools to show 'whats going on'. So a lot more options have been added to this tool in the new Beta version. In the upcoming Ubuntu release, Lucid, there will be even more changes to Ubutnu One based on all the feedback from users. It will be the ideas and suggestions from users like you that will make Ubuntu One a wonderful tool. I will make sure to pass along your comments to the Ubuntu One developers.

You can visit the Ubuntu One troubleshooting/Bugs page for some help on ways to debug different aspects of Ubuntu One, as well as a list of common bugs.
