Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ok, lets say I download a file from Google Chrome. If I have my download directory open in Nautilus, the file I downloaded won't show up unless I refresh. This occurs with any file modifications done in a separate window. I would expect the directory to automatically know a new file has been created (or renamed, deleted, etc.) and just show it when it happens.

I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell E6400

the issue is probably not a nautilus one then, is the directory a local one?

do you use the ubuntu kernel version? could be that inotify is not working. do you have updates working in other directories?

I'm not sure what your first question is asking.

It appears it is only in my Downloads directory, currently.

The issue is not a nautilus one in any case if gvfs-monitor doesn't list the change either, is there anything special in that directory?
