can't run any update - not even "sudo dpkg --configure -a"

Bug Description

was running a system update. got an error due to a python update - forgot the exact name of the python package. can't run any update - not even "sudo dpkg --configure -a"

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx - released in April 2010 and supported until April 2013.

Please do in the next command Terminal (Applications > Accesories > Terminal):
sudo dpkg --configure -a

The is the output i get when running sudo dpkg --configure -a

[sudo] password for brasen:
