Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I saw the bug for disc art search failing, I don't believe this is same issue. The issue occurs with TinyProxy installed, discogs failing (not sure if it's cause they dont' have Bride or other artists i listen to), which when this happens causes all webpages to not load in any browser, until TinyProxy is restarted.

From Tinyproxies log when it happens:
CONNECT Feb 09 21:22:19 [22428]: Established connection to host "www.discogs.com" using file descriptor 8.
CONNECT Feb 09 21:22:20 [22429]: Connect (file descriptor 7): localhost [127.0.0.1]
CONNECT Feb 09 21:22:20 [22429]: Request (file descriptor 7): GET http://www.discogs.com/search?type=all&f=xml&q=Bride+Snakes+In+The+Playground&api_key=45be440f6dd HTTP/1.0
INFO Feb 09 21:22:20 [22429]: No proxy for www.discogs.com
CONNECT Feb 09 21:22:20 [22429]: Established connection to host "www.discogs.com" using file descriptor 8.

At first I thought it was a Rhythombox streaming music from my windows machine in the basement, but it continued to affect my web browsing even with local songs. But only certain songs does it seem to do it on. Like I said where discogs doesn't seem to have any results.

So far disabling that plugin has resolved this issue. So it's not a high priority bug in my mind, but thought I would pass it along.

the issue seems rather a tinyproxy one than a rhythmbox one

Does this happen with tinyproxy 1.8.0-1 from Debian unstable? (the dependencies should not be a problem, you can install it by hand)

I do not know, I will install it tonight when I get home.

When you say by hand is there a DEB file to dkpg -i, or do I have to compile it? And where do I get it from?

Ok I installed it, and dansguardian wouldn't work with that version. Once i went back to 1.65 it worked again. However, I am using 9.04's dansguardian on 9.10 since the one on 9.10 has issues.

How does it fail to work? As Ubuntu will sooner or later get this 1.8.0 version, you might want to help with getting the issue fixed, or you'll face it again in the future when the package gets upgraded.

Well ok the old dansguadian at least fails to work with tiny proxy 1.8, it works fine with 1.65, dansguardian says failed to connect to proxy, the conf file is exactly the same for 1.65 and 1.8, I changed nothing in dansguarding and even rebooted. I did the sudo lsof -i :3128, and it showed, i just did it with 1.65, and it lists::
tinyproxy 5785 root 0u IPv4 27392 0t0 TCP *:3128 (LISTEN)

I think 1.8 had IPv6? so could that be the problem?

For dansguardian:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dansguardian/+bug/474475

It sux, you have to add like a ton of pages to exception list to work properly. Like it wouldn't say dansguardian was blocked, but give a blank page or soemthing.
