Bug Description

When starting KDM without the necessary NVidia drivers, I get the message about Ubuntu running in low-graphics mode.
I selected "Run Ubuntu in low-graphics mode for just one session", and got a message "Stand by one minute while the display restarts...". It just stays like that forever. If I click "Ok", it restarts X and starts over.

Hi dima-gmail,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Just upgraded to 10.04; same problem.

This makes the whole upgrade a pretty awful experience, given that KDM doesn't start anymore.

"Ubuntu is running in low graphic mode.

Your screen, graphic card, and input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself."

I am not sure if it's same problem, but it looks like it is. It offers options after this message.

I have removed Nvidia drivers, and now I am working without them (maybe NV is in use, I don't know). I am waiting for an update. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/616023

I am not sure that it will solve the problem.
