Incorrect status icon shown by applet while nothing on wire

Bug Description

While all files seem to be in sync, and the daemon reports "Nothing on the wire right now", the applet nonetheless at the moment shows the circular arrows status icon. I cannot reproduce the bug consistently. See the attached screenshot to see what I mean.
