notifications doesn't show anymore when some programs are running

since some days there are no notifications from Pidgin anymore, i don't know after what updates this occurs but before that, i always get notifications if someone logs in or out or if i get a message.

that seems to be the real problem, i've tested it and didn't get any notifications from other software.
only the volume notification shows up.

can you send notification using "notify-send sometext", do you see a bubble when doing that command?

so it's a notify-osd problem and not Pidgin related.

Please attach the log file at ~/.cache/notify-osd.log. Please also paste in output of "lspci -nn | grep VGA" and attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log

ok, it's possible that virtualbox is the problem, i've looked into the log files and it seems that the notifications are sent correctly but somehow supressed and not showing.
i shutdown my virtualbox and after that it works correctly...

i've checked a bit more and it seems to not only related to virtualbox but also notifications doesn't show when Totem is playing a media file.
