i installed ubuntu 9.04 then upgraded to ubuntu 9.10. After upgrading , Whenever i tried to update this error occurs.

Thanks for your report.

acidbase uses dbconfig-common, which lets users to choose to stop configuration if a database server is not available.
Do you have mysql installed locally ?
It looks like you've aborted the installation when dbconfig asked you to setup the database ?

i dont hav mysql in my pc.
no i never abort the installation.

i have installed the mysql locally but remain having the same problem. Is there something i need to set up in mysql to receive the database?

As the Debian package maintainer I can say this issue has been resolved in 1.4.5-2... 1.3.9-2 is over 3 years old and should be upgraded immediately as multiple CVEs affect it. Also 1.4.3-3 is over a year old and likewise has multiple CVEs which have been addressed in 1.4.5-2 and should be upgraded as well.
