Try to connect a second monitor/device, the system totally freeze, can't do any thing. It is reproducable:
Connecting the second device, open an terminal and run xrandr
>xrandt[enter]
The system will imidiatly be freeze. What you can see, is that both devices are black and the mouse cursor going to second device while hourglass remain in device one.

When I restart the system, and the second device is connected while booting the system, the second device run in clone mode and the highest resolution is 640x480.

This could be the same problem as bug 500999. Could you run `apport-collect 517766` on your computer in order to gather some relevant logs from your system and upload them here?

This issue was reported against karmic, so can you confirm if this issue exists with the most recent Lucid Lynx 10.04 Alpha release? ISO CD images are available at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid/ . Thanks in advance.

If have tested this with the live CD.
All done well.

Can you tell me, whether or not this fix will be availlable in Ubu 9.10 or what's to do without update the howl system to an apha state.

TIA
Andreas

@Andreas: At the moment I don't know, but upgrading to Lucid will be a good idea :) if this isn't a major/critical problem, then you can wait until the actual release and then upgrade. Will get back to you with more information.
