Bug Description

to reproduce, simply use arduino's Hello World example, write it to a arduino board and open the serial monitor then.

the complete java runtime will crash as already described in: http://feelslikeburning.com/2009/08/21/how-to-get-arduino-0017-working-on-64-bit-linux-including-ubuntu-9-04/

the workaround provided at the link above (use rxtx 2.2pre2) works here.

This bug is fixed in Lucid Lynx. For Karmic you can use the Arduino Ubuntu Team 's PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~arduino-ubuntu-team/+archive/ppa

Thanks!
