Bug Description

Binary package hint: frescobaldi

In Lucid, when I try to install frescobaldi I get the following output:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
frescobaldi: Depends: python-kde4 (>= 4:4.0.2) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Also,
  python-kde4: Depends: python-qt4 (< 4.7.0-0ubuntu1+~) but 4.7.0-2ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: python-sip4 (< 4.10.0-0ubuntu1+~) but 4.10.0-2ubuntu1 is to be installed

I assume this is part of some transition, but I just wanted to flag this application.

This issue breaks kdebase-workspace-data as it depends on python-kde. KDM will complain about kde session not being available.

I can confirm this problem - kubuntu-desktop was un-installed during the upgrade, and KDM launches to a black screen with a warning (cannot access file...), although GDM can be started and will launch Gnome without issues.

Only affects amd64 as the version in the reps is 4:4.3.95svn1080080-0ubuntu1 while i386 has 4:4.3.98-0ubuntu2 which this issue is fixed in. As a basic workaround I simply got the amd64 package and removed the deps.

Thanks, Jonathan. I can confirm the fix in enabling me to install the frescobaldi package again.

I'm not yet seeing the fix in any of the archive.ubuntu.com repositories. Should I point my sources.list file somewhere in particular?

amd64 package is not built yet, maybe you are in 64bit ?

Correct - thanks. I'll keep watching for the 64bit version.

Please update the packages. plasma-desktop seems to be moved to the plasma-desktop-package which is not installable. ;(

This seems to still be an issue, except now the version mismatch is 2 vs 3:

aptitude failed to find a solution to these dependencies. You can solve them yourself by hand or type 'n' to quit.
