Bug Description

after upgrading to karmic sound prefrences acts very strange when using on-keyboard shortcut keys to adjust volume, sound volume goes very high or very low, and very different in front and rear speakers. I've tried many configurations but didn't solve my problem. the sound preferences in ubuntu 9.04 was good, you could choose exactly which mixer channel to be controlled by keyboard volume keys but in karmic the new INTELLIGENT :( sound preferences ruined everything, and there is no fallback to previous version available :(

You can still control what mixer channel the volume control actually controls, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems/KarmicCaveats#Volume%20range%20anomalies (2nd solution)
