Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve Ubuntu.

This is a duplicate of bug #387112, which has been fixed in the latest release of Ubuntu. I've spoken with Colin Watson and have suggested that this be addressed in SRU for Ubuntu 8.04 as well.

For your immediate problem, resuming the upgrade should be sufficient to resolve.
