The Amule packages in Ubuntu should be Stable version, but they are Testing version.

Could you detail the steps necessary to trigger this? Are you receiving any error message?
What do you mean about amule being stable in Ubuntu? lucid automatically syncs packages with debian testing opposed to the usual unstable series in non-LTS releases.

I have one embedded server with Debian and amule-daemon server running
with version 2.1.3.

In my computer, with Ubuntu 9.10, I run the amule-gui and it don't
connect to the amule-daemon. The amule-gui starts but do nothing.

That happend in Ubuntu 8.04, and also in Ubuntu 8.10 and 9.04.

In Ubuntu 7.10 all worked OK

I can't reproduce this error with amuleGUI 2.2.6 included in lucid. I can connect without problems to the remote amule-daemon.

Do you receive any error message?

It seems that amulegui has changed the protocol used to communicate with the server, breaking the compatibility with old versions.

You could install this package: amule-utils-gui_2.1.3-6_i386.deb, wich implements the old version of the EC protocol. The problem is that it refuses to install in Ubuntu 9.10 because a dependency with libcrypto++7. I don't kown a solution nor a workaround to this problem.

Or maybe upgrade the amule-daemon package to use the new protocol? If possible for you, that should be better that downgrading the gui part.

In my case the daemon is running in an old dedicated box running embedded PowerPC Debian. I don't find it practical to upgrade everything. I'd prefer to keep the old version of amulegui, while possible.

My case is the same as Josu, and old version of Debian in embedded hardware, it's quit dificult upgrade to new version of daemon.

This compatibility is broken from upstream and I don't see it coming back in future versions of amuleGUI.
Anyway, you can always ask for it to upstream if compatibility with old amule-daemon is really necessary for you.
