printing to laserjet 2200 fails - recommended printer driver should be set to "HP LaserJet 2200 pcl3, hpcups" instead of "Postscript"

Consistently fails to print anything but the simplest of jobs. The job is sent to the printer and flushed from the queue but causes the printer's error light to flash and nothing to be printed. This has been going on since about intrepid, although the number of successful jobs has been decreasing since then. Now it seems all I can print is the test page.

We also have the same situation with LaserJet 2200 network printer (tested with all current Ubuntu versions 12.04 - 11.04) - it seems recommended printer driver should be set to "HP LaserJet 2200 pcl3, hpcups" instead of "HP LaserJet 2200 Postscript"
