Bug Description
Request for backport of Beautiful Soup Python module.

"Beautiful Soup is a Python HTML/XML parser designed for quick turnaround projects like screen-scraping."

Version 3.0 (currently available in Edgy Eft) offers substantial improvements over version 2 (in Dapper) including
- vastly improved Unicode support
- new support for modifying the parse tree (add, removing, replacing attributes, tags... etc.)
- facilities to imorove parsing of large documents by reducing memory consumption through partial document parsing and new 'extract' method
- more polished syntax and function naming.
- Many other improvements (See http://
Being a self-contained Python mode (no dependencies other than Python) and no real 'building' to speak of I see no problems that it could cause in Dapper.
Version 3 is a big upgrade from version 2 of this very useful tool. I would appreciate it if it could be backported.
I've looked a bit at the dependencies of the beautifulsoup package in Eft.
The Eft beautifulsoup package depends (unnecessarily?) on more recent versions of debhelper and python-support than available in Dapper.
Ordinarily I guess these would also have to be backported but I think these dependencies are too strict. I'm sure Beautiful Soup will build with the Dapper versions of these packages.
