Bug Description

Binary package hint: pitivi

Tried to load a 687 MB big AVI file in Pitivi with Ubuntu 10.04 alpha2 kernel 2.6.32-12-generic. Almost instant crash, with this as a result.
I'm sorry if this bug has been reported before (first time doing bug reporting to launchpad), but it didn't seem to be the exact same case as the other report, though I haven't done any thorough checking.

Thank you for looking in to this, and please ask if you need more information. I will try to provide it, but I hope the automatic report system works well enough.

Does it happen only with that particular file? Are you able to provide a sample video file that causes the problem?

So far it seems to only happen with that particular file. I tested with 2 other AVI files, approx 185 MB big, and they didn't crash the program (but was apparently too big for importing). The files all work fine watching them in VLC Media Player.

Due to the big file size I can't give you the aforementioned file, so I hope someone will be able to reproduce with another file of the same size.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However your report is missing some information, may you please run pitivi as: PITIVI_DEBUG=*:5 GST_DEBUG=2 bin/pitivi > debug.log 2>&1 . Compress that log file with gzip, bzip2, etc and attach it to the report? Thanks in advance!.
