Hi Nicolas,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

The issue of the toggle button at the top-right corner of the touch-pad switching off but not again, is still solved by the following:

1) sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
2) change the line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
to the following
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i8042.nomux"
3) save
4) sudo update-grub
5) restart the system

I know that it was signed as "expired", however I have the 10.04 Lucid which is supposed to have 3 years support.
I hope someone can offer a solution.
I have the latest kernel version as I constantly update the system (although I do not upgrade to another version).

Nicolas Produit (nicolas-produit-unige), thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. The next step is to perform a bisection to find the specific commit that fixed the problem in Oneiric. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

Hi,

I never did kernel bissection in the past.
I am afraid it looks rather formidable task and I need to find time for
this.
I did not make exact note of when it started working and when it stopped
working but I really think that it was working for a year until I
switched to precise.

I will try to do my best but this can take some time...

Anyway thanks for the work.

Cheers
