Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-games

I have played Gnometris on 9.10 distributions on this same MacBook before. I recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit, and have installed all of the updates along with some other software from the Software center, and the Mozilla build of Thunderbird 3.0.1. I just attempted to play my first game of Gnometris on this install. After launching from the applications menu, a window appeared in the window list saying that it was beginning Gnometris - but no game window actually appeared. After a short period (maybe 10-15 seconds) the window list bar disappears and the game never begins. I used the Ubuntu software center to remove and then reinstall Gnometris, but I had the same results.

I'm running a MacBook 2,1 - here is what the Terminal reports:

The program 'gnometris' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
  (Details: serial 27 error_code 1 request_code 135 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I have the same basic symptoms. When running from terminal I get the following error:

Hello Odin,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the gnome-games package. You made this bug report in 2010 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 514596
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.
