Bug Description
Binary package hint: software-center
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 - the Karmic Koala
I opened software center to download a game and when i opened the game and tried to download it the area under the programs name said "Waiting for other software managers to quit."
I have no other open windows and i have checked the processes and still found nothing taking memory except software center. I have restarted my system to see if that helped and it did not even with a different program. I have shut down my system for 10 minutes and tried again and got the same problem. I am new to Linux Ubuntu and am confused as to why this is happening and on how to fix it.

Can you please see if any other package manager like synaptic is open? If so please close them, also check in the status table for any processes named ' apt-get ' or ' aptitude ' , if these processes are found, then it is due to them that you cannot download additional software, since in ubuntu only one package manager can be run at one time /help.ubuntu. com/community/ AptGetHowto
