Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 9.10
Version of the package: 2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1

I erratically get an "Error sending message '[content of the message (without ÅÄÖ and åäö characters or other types of symbols): unknown" when I send a message to an offline contact with msn account (only a msn account has been set up).

After several try, I closed empathy (completely) and relaunch, then it works for the message sent to the offline contact. The second one does not work again.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

I can reproduce it all the time.
What I do is write a message to an (msn) offline contact. The first message is sent properly. If I write a second message, it produces the error mentioned above.

Also, If I disconnect/reconnect to service, I will be able to send one message (the second will give the error).

I do not know what steps you should take to reproduce it, as it is a "normal" use of the package (as far as I know).

Thank you for your concern.

Am I the only one having this "bug"? Just to know if I "did" something wrong.

Thanks again

Thanks for taking time to report this bug and help make ubuntu better. Can you please try to reproduce this issue with the development release of empathy from this ppa https://launchpad.net/~telepathy/+archive/ppa If this does not solve the problem for you we will send this bug upstream for you. Thanks

Great. The ppa version does present this bug anymore.
I will monitor this (I sent 4 messages to an offline msn contact, and all went through).
Thanks for your support.
