lyx cannot display graphics or math preview images

Binary package hint: lyx

Lyx seems to have problems calling its external helpers to preview images and math equations.

For each image, there is an empty box that says "Error converting to loadable format".

For math, each preview image is now displayed as a whole page. This was not true in Dec 2009.

Same issue, it seems that the lines:

if sys.argv[1][:4] == 'pdf:' and version >= 0x060206:
    opts = '-define pdf:use-cropbox=true ' + opts

in the script /usr/share/lyx/scripts/convertDefault.py cause a *LOT* of trouble
All pdf Graphics reappear after commenting those two lines
