Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I already have an account. I have linked two computers so far. I did a complete reinstall and tried to connect and nothing happens. Just says connecting for a little while and goes back. I cannot add this to my account if I cannot get it to connect.

falsechicken, love the nick,
Sorry you are having problems with Ubuntu One. Looking at your logs I noticed one thing.
 [bandwidth_throttling]
 on = True
 read_limit = -1
 write_limit = -1
I think you mat be effected by Bug 455544
The problem is that setting the bandwidth preferences to the defaults (clicking on the checkboxes and not changing the values, leaving them 0) results in the read and write limits to be set to -1. The workaround is to delete the ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf, restart the client, and don't set the bandwidth settings to the defaults.

Could you try that and see if it helps. thank you for submitting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. Fortunately, I think there is a workaround for this problem as I believe it's related to bug 455544 which occurs when the bandwidth preferences are set too low (or to the defaults). If you delete ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf and restart the Ubuntu One client, you should be able to connect. Thank you, Joshua

That did not seem to fix the problem. Thank you very much for trying
to help but it seemed to do nothing. I deleted the file and restarted
the client. But when I tell it to connect it does the same. I then
tried deleting all the config files for it. Still nothing. I hope we
can find a solution I really like this service.

falsechicken,
Sorry you are still experiencing problems. I am glad you like the service. The Ubuntu One developers are working very hard to fix these few issues. When deleting and restarting Ubuntu One did you also turn off bandwidth throttling, or set the values to something other than 0. You can access this setting by R-click on the applet in the panel and selecting preferences.

Also there is a newer version of Ubuntu One available that has fixed many bugs. You can install the newer client by adding the Ubuntu One PPA. That can be accomplished by opening a Terminal (Applications > Accesories > Terminal) and running the following command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuone/stable && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Let us know if that helps.

I did the update and thought it would be best if I restarted my
computer. So after the update finished I restarted. And now ubuntu
doesnt boot. It sits there at the white ubuntu logo after grub. I
tried recovery mode and still does not boot. It detects my usb devices
with info like "[ 3.443361] generic-usb". Then it says: Gave up
waiting for root device. Common problems:
-Boot args
-Check root delay
-Check root
-Missing modules
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/770a24d-fa34-4799-ac30-4fd5eeae7e39 does not
exist. Dropping to a shell!
Then I get a shell. But I have no idea what to do.
