This problem can be solved by installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad (which contains the mms-handler).

So this either isn’t a bug, or the bug is related to the codec-auto-install feature. Should the auto-install also work for URI-handlers, not for codecs? It would definitely be useful, since users just expect things to work, including mms-URIs. But I don’t know enough about the technical details if this is in the scope of that GStreamer feature.
