Print job stuck in queue when no physical pages need to be printed

Bug Description
Binary package hint: cups
This problem is a result of a user error.
Want: Print only Page 1 of pdf
Expectation: 1 page printed out
Result: printer appears broken
Cause: trying to print even pages of pages {1}
Steps to reproduce:
. Open a document, such as a pdf using Evince
. Select "print only even sheets" on "page setup" tab
. For the range, enter Page: 1
. Print.
. Printer does not do anything.
. HP toolbox notifies that print job was sent and completed
. Job queue window for Gnome shows that job status is Processing
. HP toolbox shows that job is on hold
Workaround: Double-check semantic meaning of settings before printing
Usability suggestions: print dialog should show conflicting settings warning or refuse to print
