Bug Description

Yesterday I just started using Ubuntu 9.10 along with an existing Vista environment that i hope to get rid of soon.
In the meantime I need to use my scanner a USB Canoscan D1250u2f but it is not found by Xsane (aucun périphérique disponible). Other reasons in the next window talk about backend is not loaded or configured but this is not understandable to me.
Is there another application or a driver that I need to install in order to get it going? I do not want to buy another scanner and throw this one in the garbage! In Vista i was using Canoscan Toolbox, can i use it with Ubuntu 9.10?
Thank you for your kind help.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs.
