Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

Default Karmic install leaves the touchpad completely non-functional. Adding "i8042.noloop" to the kernel boot parameters enables the touchpad.

While the touchpad works with the kernel paramter tweak, there is no way adjust any of the settings. Particularly sensitivity really needs to be turned up a bit.

$ sudo tpconfig -i
Found Synaptics Touchpad.
Firmware: 8.96 (multiple-byte mode).
Sensor type: unknown (0).
Geometry: rectangular/landscape/up.
Packets: absolute, 80 packets per second.
Corner taps disabled; no tap gestures.
Edge motion: none.
Z threshold: 6 of 7.
2 button mode; corner tap is right button click.

$ synclient -l
Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?
