Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

I can't see the URLs of every single wep-page and I can only access web-pages through the Ubuntu Start Page (google).
Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, 64-bit.
Installed Version: 3.5.7+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.10.1.
I expected to be able to see the web-page I was on in order to navigate, I had to use Konqueror and Google Chrome for now since Firefox doesn't work properly.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

1) Quite simply, I clicked on the Mozilla Firefox Icon, located on the toolbar at the top of the Gnome desktop (the place where it says "Applications", "Places", "System", where there is a list of items which you can add and remove, where there is the time, the date, the name of the User and the Power icon).

2) I expected Firefox to open up normally: I expected to see the navigation toolbar and to be able to write in it the website-which-I- wanted-to-visit's URL, hyperlink, direction, or whatever other way you may want to call it (e.g.: "http://www.google.com").

3) Firefox opened normally except for one detail : the navigation bar was (and still is) missing. Firefox opens up in the Ubuntu Startup Page, which has a Google search bar. Thus, I have to use Google to access any site I would want to go to through Firefox.

Thank you for the update. Could you have accidentally hit F11 to go into full screen mode?

Nope... I know what fullscreen mode looks like and this isn't fullscreen mode...

Actually, I forgot to mention something, I don't know if it's important though. I first reported this bug when I was still using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. When I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, which I have now, the Firefox navigation bar was restored for a short time. However, when the first Firefox update for Ubuntu 10.04 came in, the navigation bar disappeared again. That's pretty much all th extra info I can think of for the moment. If there is something I could run in terminal to help get more information about the bug, please don't hesitate to tell me.
