Bug Description

Hello,

I found a little bug with New Wave Dark Menus theme (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/new+wave?content=87134):

On Thunderbird lightning extension, when we configure an alarm for an event reminder, a popup window opens, and warns for this. A menu can be unrolled to snooze the reminder for 1 hour / 1 day etc...

Here is the problem: texts for the time snoozing do not appear (they seem to be in the same color as gray background), we only saw them when mouse is just over (please see the screenshot).

I tried with standard Ubuntu theme Human, Dust Sand, New Wave classic, Darkroom : OK, no problem, text appears well

With Dust theme, text is also seen but very light.

It seems the problem comes with theme that has menus with dark background and light text:

"basically the application used the background color from window in the background of the menu and the text color of the menubar (which in New Wave DM is the same as the bg for the windows) as a text in the menu"

This bug is related to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/anton/+bug/510153

If it can not be resolved, this is not a drama, as it does not make use of Thunderbird impossible, but it would be better.

Best regards,

Xavier

Sorry the bug was closed for some reason or another. Anyway does this happen in thunderbird menus as well as lightning?

  Hello,

No, I didn't notice any problem in Thunderbird, all menus are fine and
visible, also for address book.

Even in Lightning it is OK, except this window for reminder.

Tested on Ubuntu Karmic with Thunderbird 3, Lightning 1.0beta and New
Wave Dark 0.8.2

Only other small thing I just noticed: on OpenOffice, when selecting a
menu in top of screen (File - Edit...), and click on it, there is no
clear-gray background on the name, and on other programs (Nautilus,
Firefox, Thunderbird, Gedit, Gimp...), or in OpenOffice inside the
derolling menu, it is present.

Author of theme New Wave explained that "Ubuntu team has fixed the bad
black text for the whole menu for the regular New Wave and that is a
good step in the right direction. The side effect is the lack of image
in New Wave Dark Menus"

This is also a problem with the new Ubuntu 10.04 default theme, "Ambience" and Thunderbird 3.0.3 (see attached screenshot).

Yes, and with New Wave Dark in Lucid bug still persists, and is worse with Open Office.

i'd like to tell me where is the problem in the theme John? I'll be glad to learn from my mistakes if you can find them ...

I still think this is a problem with the program itself because all other apps "follow" the rules, aren't they?

has a solution for this been found?

Hello,

On Ububtu Lucid with default theme Ambiance, there is no problem with
OpenOffice, so perhaps thing comes from NewWave Dark, but for Sunbird /
Thunderbird Lightning reminder, as tado said, there is still the bad
view for snoozing alarm : texts are unreadable until mouse focusing on
it because too light (color very close to the background).

It is not a major bug but one of those little papercuts which are
causing some desagreements in daily use.

And it is for default LTS theme, so if problem comes from the theme, it
would be very great if a solution is found.

Thanks in advance. Best regards,

Xavier
