Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

Whenever I fast forward in totem via the UI or skip ahead using Go > Skip To, the video will skip ahead, but the audio then ceases. I expect the audio to pick up where the video skipped to.

This occurs for me on Ubuntu 9.10 and the following version of totem:
  Installed: 2.28.2-0ubuntu3
  Candidate: 2.28.2-0ubuntu3
  Version table:

could you run totem as: GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:2 totem 2> log ; reproduce the bug and attach that resulting log file to the report? Thanks.

I reproduced again. The contents of log is all the information reported.

My steps:
1. Run from terminal: GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:2 totem 2> log ;
2. Wait 60 seconds - audio is fine
3. Click Go > Skip To 20:00 - audio stops, video continues from 20:00
4. Wait 30 seconds - audio still is off, video continues

If I wait 20 minutes, I can see that the audio is fine at that point in the 1 hr program. If I fast forward or rewind, I get the same no audio behavior, no matter how far or short I move the viewing point in the timeline.

Thanks in advance for any help troubleshooting/resolving!

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current Ubuntu 10.10. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 510137, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
