Bug Description

years ago i did this icon theme for UbuntuStudio - http://ubuntu-art.org/content/show.php/UbuntustudioCleaned?content=84325 - i don't know how many Puredyne users enjoy minimal artwork, specially on icon themes - my idea is about only changing the #009bf8 colour with #dd3344 (i don't know if it is the exact official Puredyne colour) - what do you all think?

first of all thanks for this!

a couple of random thoughts after installing and having a look at them:

1) using red as default color for folders can be quite confusing to people who are new to linux since this purports the feeling that those folders are inaccessible, or locked or something. In fact this was a intuitive reaction of a friend of mine who just tried to use Thunar and got confused about the color
2) also, using red as a default color IMO doesn't integrate well with the wm theme we use, grey as a default color would be more suitable
3) the 'Desktop' icon is IMHO too similar to the other ones, especially the folder icon so that it becomes hard to differentiate particularly when setting the icon size to 'small' or 'very small' in the Thunar preference
4) I like HDD icon, it really lives up to the name of the icon collection. maybe the other ones could adopt grey too and be more in the style of this one?

the iconset were a colour replacement (.svg files in a text editor, very simple thing) from this one http://ubuntu-art.org/content/show.php?content=84325 (also a version from me) - i also did another one with the Ubuntu (gnome) orange colour used on their iconset - these iconsets i were done using the default iconset of UbuntuStudio 8.04 (forgot its name now...) , and the idea is cleaning these iconsets enough for looking more minimal, and having most of these .svg icon files taking less than 500 bytes in size each.

Would be great if somewhere in the Puredyne webpage has some information about Puredyne graphical guideline, like which colours are used, which typefaces (like that one from the carrot and coriander wallpaper) - in this case, since i used a red i imagined were the official one (like that blue from UbuntuStudio, or that orange from Ubuntu), would be great knowing which grey (or even some 'official alternate red' would not (or less) disturb usability, like some red like #99323D instead of #D62839, or alike ) - the grey colours i used on all iconsets i think were #555555 and #AAAAAA (and #000000 for outlines...), and i really wanted to use another third colour would not mess with these two ones - maybe #7F7F7F ?

here are the three versions:
- http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=118862 - the original red version (some people may enjoy this more)
- http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=119159 - alternate 1 - less saturated red
- http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=119160 - alternate 2 - grey version
my idea is all these 3 versions being defaulty, and the user could choose among them - wouldn't be a problem, since their icons are smaller than usually from svg iconsets, most of the icons are smaller than 1kb

Hi - Thanks for your work on these. We've discussed it and we're not going to use these as the default iconset for puredyne. (Personally I find the design quite harsh in appearance, that's my own feedback.)

If you'd like to create a full icon set and bundle it as a debian package then we can add it to the DVD image as an "alternative" iconset, so that it's available for you and for others to try and maybe they'll like it. If you'd like to do this, then make sure: (1) to make a *full* iconset - because otherwise a mixture of minimal icons and tango icons would look awful! and (2) to make it as a debian package (ideally, upload it to your own PPA) so we can integrate it. Then let us know so we can try it out.
