Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdenetwork

every time I open Kopete Version # 0.80.2 using Kubuntu 9.10 and KDE 4.3.2 ..I find 200 or so new names in my friends list that I did not authorise. I remove them and reopen the app. and there are another 200 or so new names added to it again. I have a yahoo account that I use in windows and it does not happen there. I have no new users in my account or on my system. So I think it is a bug with Kopete. I think it could be a security problem ,but what do I know.

Please let me know what you think and if I need to try something else to fix the problem from my end. Driving my nuts. Thanks for your time and effort and a really cool app. that works great other than this problem. Mike.S a newbee to this OS with less than 2 weeks under my belt.

Just to give a little more on this. I notice by the names that keep getting added to the list without my Auth. that they are all porn chat bots. I also noticed today that a whole NEW group folder was also added to my list with more unwanted names in it. I logged off Kopete and Kubuntu and logged in on XP and Yahoo messenger and no new users or group folders have been added there. They just show up in Kopete.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
