Bug Description

I installed 64-bit Kubuntu on my computer. Everything went fine, but soon I found out that I couldn't get 64-bit binaries of some software I want, and dpkg refused to install them. So I decided to reinstall as a 32-bit system.

Durin the text mode install (the graphical one doesn't work) I made a mistake. I accidentally marked my root partition as "Do not format", and the installer threw an error. So I had to go back and I got no errors. Then, I was asked a question (can't remember what it was) I've never been asked before. I answered and the install completed. When I booted to the fresh installation and saw the login boxes, I realised it didn't ask for my account details. I went into recovery mode and checked /etc/passwd, and indeed, no user was created.

Sure, I could've created the user in recovery mode, but I decided to install the OS again, because I couldn't be sure if the installer had skipped other important steps. I didn't make the partition mistake this time, and everything went smoothly and the user was created.

Unfortunately this report doesn't have enough detail to pursue it further. Someone would need to walk through the install, make the same choices that were done here and provide the log files afterwards. Please re-open if you are able to do this.
